2009-2010 Tournament Rules
 

Rules stated herein and those of the U.S.B.C. will govern all participates of this tournament. The tournament manager and committee will have the right to accept or reject any entry and decide all questions or disputes arising in the tournament. All decisions by the tournament committee will be final unless an appeal is made to the U.S.B.C. in accordance with rule 329.

TEAM CAPTAINS! Make sure your bowlers report any re-rates or adjustments to their average in any tournament. They must also report any disqualifications. If they average 10 or more pins higher in any league this year for 21 games or more, they must report it. If they have a tournament average for the past 12 months that is 10 pins higher than their entering average, it must be reported. If they have won a prize of more than $700 in any tournament in the past 24 months or have been a member of the P.B.A., it must be reported.

 

#1        To enter this tournament, you must be a member of the U.S.B.C. All captains must be prepared to present U.S.B.C. membership cards at check-in. If bowler does not belong to the U.S.B.C. they must either pay $20.00 for a membership or can pay the participation fee of $5.00. The participation fee is only good for this tournament and does not qualify the bowler to any U.S.B.C. awards. Teams made be made up of five men, five women, of mixed in any combination of bowlers. Mixed Teams with at least two female bowlers and Women’s teams will compete equally with the men’s teams in the regular prize list but will also qualify for the opportunity to will special prizes for scratch scores in the Mixed and Women’s Team categories.

#2        Contestants must use their highest certified average of at least 42 games from the 2008-2010 season. Those without a 2008-09 average will use their highest 2009-10  U.S.B.C. certified average of 42 games or more as of time of bowling. If the entrant has no 2008-09 average and has not bowled at least 42 games in the present 2009-10  season, the contestant may submit their highest 2007-08 and/or 2006-07 average for our committee’s consideration. This must be done in advance of the day they bowl. All other bowlers must bowl scratch (230). Summer league averages for 42 games or more will be allowed. Any bowler, who has competed in a certified SPORT LEAGUE or leagues we determine to be sport condition leagues, must use the U.S.B.C. Sport league adjustment chart in the rule book to establish their average used for handicap in this tournament. Yearbook averages reported and published on bowl.com will be used as official. It shall be the responsibility of each bowler to check the accuracy of their average, whether originally submitted by the bowler, team captain, or squad organizer. Failure to report correct average or make a correction may lead to disqualification. Bowlers have 96 hours after they bowl to request a correction.

#3        If, at time of bowling, entrant has a current season average of 21 games or more  that is 10 pins or more above the previous seasons average, bowlers current average must be used. U.S.B.C. rule 319a applies.

#4        Bowlers that have qualified for a prize of $700.00 or more in any event in a tournament within the previous 24 month period must report the winnings, even though payment of the prize might not have yet been paid.

#5        Re-Rating Rule: If you individually average less than 230 and have won $700 or more in prize money or merchandise 3 times in the past 24 months in ANY bowling tournament regardless whether certified of non-certified, YOU MUST BOWL SCRATCH. Entrant failing to report winnings for the past 24 months or falsifying total amounts won will be disqualified with no prize money paid or entry refunded.  Winnings are to be reported on entry or on separate sheet of paper supplied with the entry.

#6        Scratch for the tournament will be 1150.

#7        Handicaps will be calculated on a 75% basis between the team average and 1150.

#8        Teams with an average of over 1150 will receive no handicap.

#9        Team captains must report to tournament check-in 60 minutes before scheduled time of bowling. Teams will receive lane assignments at check-in.

#10      Prize fees will be returned 100%. In case of ties, money will be split. At least one prize will be awarded for every 10 entries in each event.

#11      The tournament is open to all amateur bowlers and any P.B.A. Member who is not rated in the top 50 of the official P.B.A. earnings list for the 2008- 2009 or the 2009-2010 season as of the time of bowling in this tournament or has won a P.B.A. National Tournament in the past two years.  “Eligible PBA members must bowl scratch in this tournament.”

#12      Bowlers must report to tournament official prior to bowling, any re-rates or adjustments to their average in any tournament, in the past five years. If any bowler has had a score disqualified in the past five years, it must be reported.  This re-rate or adjustment doesn’t mean we will re-rate you. You will be given every consideration as to the circumstances of the particular situation. These re-rates, adjustments, or disqualifications should be reported at least 24 hours prior to bowling to get proper consideration. However, failure to report the re-rate, adjustment, or disqualification could mean your teams scores will be disqualified in the Shammy Burt Tournament.  Participates agree that the tournament committees decision regarding any violation of this rule will be final.

#13      U.S.B.C. Rule 319e pertaining to tournament average for the 12 months prior to bowling in this tournament will be in force with one change. Bowlers must report their tournament average if it is 10 pins or more higher than their entering book average for this tournament.  If a tournament was bowled on “Sport Conditions” or on conditions that were by design difficult (Even oil or Peterson like conditions) they must still be reported but NOT USED to figure your tournament average. Individual bowlers that have been given a tournament affidavit to be returned as a member of a team as outlined in rule 18 below must wait until the affidavit has been returned before bowling again in this tournament.

#14      Bowlers may enter the tournament as many times as they want and may qualify for team prizes each time they bowl, provided no more than three bowlers repeat on the same team.

#15      When more than three players bowl together more than once, the team on which they bowl shall be eligible for only one position standing prize. Such teams must declare themselves as a “repeat team” on the entry.

#16      Individual bowlers and/or teams can only cash once in any scratch event.

#17      Employee’s of the Shammy Burt Tournament or full time employees the Toledo Sports Center will not be permitted to cash in this tournament.

#18      Winners will be checked with proper affidavits. Teams scoring 3500 or better will be mailed individual affidavits that must be filled out and returned within 30 days of the day they bowl. Teams that shoot a score of 3600 or more may be photographed.

#19      If a breakdown of the pin spotters occurs for more than 10 minutes, we reserve the right to move bowlers to another pair of lanes.

#20      If a tournament frame or frames within a game is irretrievably lost in the automatic scoring system, tournament management has the right to offer re-bowling of lost frames, refund of entry fee, or rescheduling the team on another squad.

#21      Shammy Burt Recaps will be used as the official score sheet. Totals transcribed from the automatic scoring system will be considered official. Team captains will certify their scores were recorded correctly by signing the sheet. All sheets will be audited for correct addition after the squad. Team captains will be notified of any corrections.

#22      Entries will be returned or adjusted in prizes, with U.S.B.C. approval, if war, labor strikes, an act of God or any other causes beyond the control of the Tournament committee makes it impossible or impractical to conduct the tournament and it’s publicized prize list. There shall be no further liability of the Shammy Burt tournament to entrants.

#23      If you are found by the Shammy Burt Tournament Committee or the U.S.B.C.  to have violated any tournament or U.S.B.C. rule and the U.S.B.C holds that your winnings in the tournament be forfeited and paid to other entrants next in line, it is hereby agreed that there shall be no liability on the part of the Shammy Burt Tournament or it’s officers to you as an entrant in complying with such holding of the U.S.B.C.

#24      In the event the squad has an odd number of teams or due to some other scheduling circumstance a team is bowling alone on a pair, the team must bowl as though another team were present. They must complete a team frame on one lane before starting to bowl a succeeding frame. U.S.B.C. Rule 325 applies.

#25      In the event that a personal or business check used to enter the tournament or special event is returned unpaid to us, all persons involved with the entry will be responsible for payment of the check and other bank fees. If uncollected checks are outstanding at the time the prize fund is distributed, prize winnings may be held up until checks/fees have been paid.

#26      In the event that any government taxing authority imposes a sales tax on bowling, the additional fee to cover such a tax will be collected at the time of bowling.

#27      Last scheduled squad of tournament will be Sunday, June 25, 2009.
